Climate The temperature changes vertically in Yellow Mountain (Mt.Huangshan), the climate of the mountain is varied on different elevation. It generally has 3 climate types from the base to top: subtropical mountain base, temperate mountainside and frigid mountaintop.
According to the data from 1956 to 1980. The annual average temperature of the whole mountain is 7.8 ¡ãC. Average is 17.7 ¡ãC in the hottest July, -3.1¡ãC in the coldest January. The record high at the mountain top is 27.1 ¡ãC, record low is -22 ¡ãC. ( Bright Summit ) The record high at the mountain base is 34.2 ¡ãC, record low is -13.6 ¡ãC. ( Hotspring Area ) There are 108 frost days (equal or below 0 ¡ãC) a year, 21 severe frost days (equal or below -10 ¡ãC) a year.
Yellow Mountain (Mt.Huangshan) is situated in South China, near the ocean, frequented by the warm air mass full of vapor from the Pacific, so it has many raining and cloudy days and less sunshine. The sun shines on an average of 151 days a year.
On the mountain top humidity is about 90% as a monthly average in July and August, around 60% in December and January.
Yellow Mountain (Mt.Huangshan) is the heaviest rainfall area in Anhui province, rain falls on an average of 183 days a year. Annual precipitation of 2395 mm with the highest of 3327 mm and the lowest of 1544 mm, concentrated on May, June, July, August and September.
Yellow Mountain (Mt.Huangshan) has little rain and more sunshine in winter and the average annual snow precipitation lasts 49 days, so there are more chance to enjoy the snow-capped peaks and frosted trees againt blue sky, and more chance for sea of cloud and sunrise in winter. |
