Xiuning County

Xiuning County is situated at very southern part of Anhui Province, at the foot of Mount.Huangshan range. With a population of 260,000, it covers an area of 2,125 square kilometers.

It has a history of nearly 1800 years ever since it was set up in the l3th year of Jian'an reign of Eastern Han Dynasty (208AD). It has been famous for it nice hills and rivers, timber and tea and Hui merchants.

Within the county lies Mount. Qiyun and Liugujian Waterfall. As one of the four taoist mountain in China, Mount Qiyun is a National Forest Park as well as a state-level scenic area. Liugujian Waterfall is the origin of Xin' an River, the middle reaches of which is called Fuchun River, the lower reaches, Qiantang River.
Shuaishui River and Hejiang River flow throng the county, serving as two major branch of Xin' an River.

Old houses and pagodas, old bridges and archways are dottng in villages and towns. Historic culture Wan'an Town produces fine Fengshui compass. In fact, Xiu'ning County is the home town of many historic celebrities, such as famous scholar and strategist Zhu Sheng of the Ming Dynasty, well-known thinker and philosopher Dai Zheng of the Qing Dynasty, and Ministe and calligrapher Wang Youdun, etc.
